spoiler or not

im looking around to buy a cf spoiler with led brake lights, something non airplane worthy, probably only like 2-3 inches off the trunk, non obnoxious. i rarely see a max with a non stock wing, how do you think it'll look, or pics if anyone knows any, im gonna be getting the led carbon fiber taillights too

IMHO i think any wing other than stock is kinda gay looking and ricey sometimes I think the stock wing is homolicious. i like the look of no spoiler too. there is a type X spoiler but only some cars can pull it off.

and a big negative to Alezza carbon fiber tail lights. LEDs yes, but in stock lights. i know you want to be be the man in the neighborhood with a modded car, but don't ruin your perfect 99 granny mobile and make it look awful. it's a Maxima and should stay a maxima.

I hate the 4th and 5th gen spoilers, they are round and ugly. My car is non spoilED, there was someone on here with a mitsubishi spoiler i think either from a lancer or a gallant not sure but it was angled and not too high off the trunk which looked very very clean. Here is the problem, the 4th gen trunk is very rounded and it only looks good with certain rounded spoilers, not stock though.

here i found the one i am talking about:

this is the link u can find more pictures of more spoilers -- dont spoil yourself!!

CF looks stupid IMO. Rice no matter what to me. I know a lot of guys have it on here but I don't like it. Specially that it has tendency to bow. Stock spoiler looks the best. Not ugly at all and the gallant spoiler is just ridiciulous. But it looks like you're trying to rice out your max anyways so get a big a$$ wing...

to answer your question, no. at normal speeds they do jack ****. even normal highway speeds (60-70) they dont do much.

and to the OP, carbon fiber looks ricey IMO. i mean, its your car so if you like it by all means go ahead. i just wouldnt do it to my car. and if one reason you want it is for weight reduction...the stock spoiler is pretty light...not sure how much lighter it could get.

i want to look somewhat ricer, but im definately staying away from 8" tall 60" wide wings. i just wanted a stock cf, not to lighten the car, but im gonna be putting the led cf tails in, and they dont look good sitting alone on a sterling mist car, i wanted to put more color back there so it matches better, i was thinking cf stock spoiler or a cf lip kit

My CF items have never bowed, its a different look I guess and to each there own.
Personally, I think cut auto shifters made to resemble a manual shifter is and ricer....

Clever but no. The point of cutting the shifter is not to look like a manual. It was to lower the shifter and it looks stupid showing a the metal under the shift ****. I'm not sure comparing a cut shifter to CF has any connection. Cut shifter/CF....I think more people would notice the CF.

Okay, but whats the real point of lowering the auto shifter?

People aren't going to be straight with you on that. Yeah, it makes it look better, and yeah, it might be annoying sticking up so far normally, but I don't think people would mind if someone thought they saw a 5spd instead of an auto.

I drive an auto and I'm embarassed of it. I want a 5spd, but I'm not going to act like I have one. That's rice.

Oh, and for the record, flava's car is the sickest max ever. /thread. Got any more pictures of it with the projector retro?

Thats the point I was trying to stress, lowering it is a cosmetic mod, CF is a cosmetic mod with some wieght savings to boot.
Thats the "connection" of comparing the two.
I cannot honestly see how lowering an auto shifter has any real performance gain.
I cut my manual STS for the same reason, for the looks and feel.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment.
Heres one that I have on this comp, but Im going to be doing another retro with different projectors within the next week...

HEY FOCUS. when the hell did this thread fall over and start talking about shifters

hey flav, nice setup, looks fine , i like the trunk, and i like the wing, but together thats too much cf for me personally.

and before when i said i wanted to go KIND of ricer, i meant it, if your putting more than 500$ in carbon fiber, you can't say its not ricer insipred.

the picture i posted before, im going for that look. cf lip and hood, led altezzas, either cf trunk or stock trunk with cf stock wing, lowered rolling on 18" black or gunmetal wheels. if everything goes well, a pretty supercharger late this summer. thats ricer to me. it might be a clean sc'ed maxi to you, but anything that looks not stock is ricer to me.
