Trouble With Wheel Caps

I'm having some trouble getting the wheel caps on the rims I have mounted on the back of my car. There seems to be this little golden piece underneath that's preventing me from putting on the caps correctly. Anybody have any ideas as to how I can get the caps on? Will I have to remove the rims and rip off that golden piece out? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thing is that they little golden caps are on the back wheels but not the front. Is it supposed to be this way?

yes, there was just a discussion about this, the caps keep dirt and what not out of the bearings and all that back there. the fronts are set up different so they don't have the caps

Is there a way to remove them? If so, would that negatively impact the rear brakes in any way?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, do not use wheel spacers!!!! they'll screw up the bearings and offset your rears . look, go to a dealer, if these are stock rims then they can fix easily. they probably won't charge you unless they want to charge you for 10 minutes. if aftermarket, your probably screwed.
