when driving hard third gear does not shift smooth at all. it happens when i redline 2nd and shift to third. but here is the weird thing when the car is driven normaly it shifts smooth as can be. also if the car is driven hard when it barely warmed it shifts smooth and won't grind. please help me with this even if its bad news i can take it.. i just bought it about a month ago its a 95 se with 74k on it.. i have not serviced the tranny and i am hoping that some redline mt90 helps but i may just be kidding myself..thanks for a help guys...louis

Your symptoms are consistent with worn synchronizers on 3rd gear. A superior lubricant may provide some improvement but it can't put worn-away metal back where it came from.

You might wonder how the synchros could be worn at only 74K. The reason is that the previous owner(s) indulged in abusive driving practices, such as redlining 2nd and jamming it into 3rd. Hint, hint!
