Paint Faded on windshield wiper arm

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone of you has ever pained their windshield wiper arms due to faded paint. If you have; what did you do? & what paint did you use?

Thanks!!

just did that not too long ago. just take em off and spray em. i used satin black. it's not the same as factory, i think it looks more flat, but satin is just a nice new clean lookin finish. you should definitely do 2 coats though. mine look lots better

overspray is a b!tch. it's so damn easy to take em off, all that prep is actually more time consuming. that's what i found out plus it doesn't get as even on all sides and all the way down if you do that

I just hand sanded the **** out of it, now it is polished metal, and ofcourse I clear coated it so it won't rust.

Did mine about 6 months ago and they started to fade again. Going to do them again this weekend. Don't remember the paint I used last time but it was just a flat black.

I wouldn't recommend painting them when they're on the car. Too much risk involved in something that can be avoided very easily.

Did mine about 6 weeks ago with a $3.99 can of flat black from autozone. Came out great...I did about 3 coats after sanding down all the chipping. It is much easier if you remover them from the car...just follow these simple steps...

1. Pop the retaining nut cover
2. Unscrew the 14 mm lug nut
3. Pop the hood and rock and pull the whole arm out of the socket.
4. Paint and follow in reverse order to put back on.

I took the oppertunity to change my wiper blades and also you want to make sure you align them properly so do a test run before you completly tighten the bolts again.

i did mine about 2 weeks ago. I just lightly sanded, enough to scuff it up. Then went with walmart brand flat black. Looks great to me.LOL

Thanks for all your responses guys!!!! I'll just paint it with the flat black paint. I will also take the chance to change my wiper blades too.

1 - take your wipers off
2 - remove nut cap, and nut off each wiper arm
3 - remove wiper arms
4 - make sure to SAND them so your new paint will stick. (400 grit is good)
5 - 2 coats or grey primer
6 - 2 or 3 coats of a colour of your choice
7 - clear coat if you want

I did exactly this mine have been nice and silver for about 3 years now, although I did not put clear coat on.

i didnt take mine off, put an old tshirt underneath and spray painted with tremclad rust proof black paint

i also took off the plastic covers under the engine bay, got a metal brush and cleaned the whole lower rad support and some other metal parts i could reach and double coated everything with the same rust proof paint, it was slightly rusted so hopefully this will delay the rust process...

No need to take off the wipers. I just use newspaper and cover everything around the wiper. Yeah overspray sucks so I always do it when there is no wind. Just do light coats. Mine just faded again so I'm doing in the next few weeks with a flat clear coat for protection.
