Failed NY inspection
Failed NY inspection
I recently failed my inspection and the receipt shows the following codes:
P0325 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Bank 1 or Single Sensor
P0440 - Evaporative Emission System
P1448 - Manufacturer Specific Code
I know that the KS code is probably because of a bad KS/harness, but I'm not sure how to fix whatever is causing the other codes. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Was the CEL on when you took the car in for inspection? I'm just curious because I have a code that I clear everytime with an OBDII reader, so I'm not sure if it permanently clears it. I'm about to bring mine in for inspection as well later this year.
oh an BTW here in toronto, u can buy an emissions test. for example i bought my maxima with 0% emissions which is impossible unless my car is running on water LOL
small mechanics authorised to perform emissions make a lot of money from used car dealers desperate to sell vehicles.
of all the places in the world im sure its possible in new york as well

P0440 is the worst code you can get because there is no specific part(s) to replace to remove this code. you may make need to buy several parts to get this code to go away. i was lucky and unlucky. i had brought the necessary parts and for some reasons the P0440 went away and i'm now stuck with these parts. i passed NY emission with no indication of any code.
p0440, could be a fuel pressure leak, I've had this code b4. It increased last winter and finally found the cause to be a hole in my filler neck. Have your fuel line pressure checked, alot of times it can be fixed by purchasing a new gas cap. This could also take care of p1448, if this does not go away check your evap canister behind your driver rear wheel, thats your evap system.
P1448 is the rear charcoal canister vent stuck open. On the left side, in the back, behind the tire is a black shoe box looking thing with some hoses running to it. There's a valve on there with a line in and a line out. That thing is causing the problem, pull it off, clean it with some brake cleaner, lube it with some spray and send it back in. You have to reset the light on your own, look for the sticky on that. Hope it works.
