I agree.
Modding yourself is where the fun is. BUUUTTTT if you need an answer, $6000 tops. Thats just a guess from what you wrote. Personally, with that many mods...I think its a def possibilty that you'll be pouring alot of money into upkeep.

Fkn sweet lookin Max, though!

**edit cause I just realized it was your car. lol**
I kinda changed my mind about the pouring money into upkeep comment. That was going under the assumption that you didnt know who owned that car.

A car modded like that is possible a car that has been abused (in racing).

A local dealer auction had a 1999 SE 5sp with 90k go for $1k. Sad that 4th gens aren't worth very much anymore.

How about parting out the car?

thats insane, i don't know what kind of driving you do, but unless some part of your drive train is f'ed up, it would depend on overall perfomance of the car. don't part it out, if you cant get at least 6,to 7,000 for that then you should just keep it. all that work is going to be wasted for nothing. and, that 4th gen. that went for a thousand musta been a pos because i've never seen a 4th gen go for less than 4,000 unless it was'nt maintained.

I think the engine can handle a lot of the pressure put on it. If the turbo was installed when the car had 10k on it id definately shy away because internal components of the engine may be worn excessively.

You say the transmission is basically on its way out, a full rebuild/replace from what ive heard will run ya a good 1000$ maybe more if you have it hired out.

Im sure all other mechanical parts are worn down heavily for its mileage. Maybe not if it wasnt abused in hard running.

Total value I would say 5, around 7 if the tranny wasnt ****ed.

Yes, it's my car - and Cefiros add like 32hp. (I typoed that...heh)

Yep - barely ever drive it (once every 2 weeks since wife had the kid), has only been at the track a few times, and I baby the hell out of it.

I love a spirited freeway drive late at night like any one, but I'm 32 with a kid, not 16 and invincible.

Anyway - maybe this helps:
latest compression test:
1 - 190
2 - 186
3 - 189
4 - 185
5 - 192
6 - 191

You can get a tranny in good condition for $400 if you look around. I'll probably replace it before selling anyway.
With 339hp, yes, you expect to go through a stock tranny every few years.

I'd buy it just because it's his car. If you've been around here for any length of time, you'd know that he's a good/honest guy, knows his A32's, and he treats that car better than most mothers treat their first born.

I would part it out. But it seems like you dont want to go threw the hassle. It would be easier to sell unmodded i hope.

I’m in the same bout you’re in:

It’s amazing to see how the monetary depreciation trickles so much faster than the value we keep for it. It took me almost 10 years to put the two together, now I realize I’m stuck.

Good luck with the sale.

isn't oil change w/ mobil1 every 2k a little bit overkill?

and you have a nice car, but cars depreciate, and modding is something for fun and i don't think should be seen primarily as something that adds any value to the vehicle.
all in all when it comes to stuff like this, i feel like the car will always be worth more to you than anything you will get for it. (which is why i plan on keeping my '95 for like at least 4 more years, and b/c there's really nothing wrong w/ it)

btw, how much did you get your rims for? those are pretty light right?

Why hasn't this been moved to the classifieds?

As others have said Ian, your car is likely worth more to you than anyone else.

I don't know your circumstances, but you might as well just keep the car.

The same goes for me and my 95SE with 68k on the clock. There is no use in me selling this car anytime soon.

Not by me, I've followed this car since it was an automatic, non MEVI bearing thing.

If you don't know the circumstances, stop making assumptions.

It gets old seeing how much mileage you have and what year your car is. And no, I'm not jealous because my 03 has more miles. It just puts me in a more experienced point of view. Since I have a combined VQ experience of 198k miles.

Probably 5k or so. Because it's something that I know is going to need a lot of work in maintaining it, replacing trannies, etc, and you can get other cars with equal speed and power and w/o those issues for 8-10k.

I think you could probably get 5-6k for it with the tranny situation, leak, and CV Boot issue. If these were all fixed I could see you getting 7-8k. It looks really really nice, in great condition, and the reputation you have on the .org should help in the sale.

Keep the blower on it, take some really good engine shots and car shots, then take out an AutoTrader Listing and see if you can sell it in your city. I think you can probably get around $8-$8500 for it regardless of your reputation.

Who knows what will happen to my car when I go to sell it. I just put my new motor in it, less then 10k miles on the motor, new clutch, flywheel, emange ultimate, full blower, stillen kit, all that fun stuff but I know Im going to lose money in the end. Im going to stick with the car while I am still interested in it and it still looks really good in my eyes.

Good luck with whatever happens.

A 2k+ tranny would probably hold up indefinately if you didn't treat the car like ****. The tranny I got on there now is a 95 and had 125k on it and I expected it to die in a couple of years. otherwise, the car has never had a mechanical problem I didn't cause by tinkering.

i'd pay $4500.00 for the car. It's in good condition. It's just the future cost. Tranny will be one.

My guess when I started this thread was about $7500-$8500.

After reading everyone's opinon, I think that's what I'll try to get for it.

I can always lower the price later if it doesn't sell. I'm in no hurry.

Thanks.
