with 200+ posts and a question like that, you probably deserved the responses you just got XD
I'd leave some sort of comment, but I feel like helping you out. Take a screw driver, turn the car to ON, pop off a panel near the gas pedal, turn the screw all the way clockwise, wait 5 seconds, turn it all the way counter-clockwise, look at the SES light, it will blink two series of numbers, a series that blinks long and slow and one that is short and fast. Add these numbers together, i.e. "blllliiiinnnnnkkkk (long/slow) bllllllliiiiinnnnkkkk bliiiinnnkkkkkkkkk blink(Short/Fast) blink blink blink" would be 0304. Once you have these numbers, look online or in a book to identify what the code means. Then fix it. The end

But, from the lack of information of your post, it's difficult to decipher what's really going on.
A.) You stated you fixed i, but did not state what was wrong.
B.) You asked about an alternator. My assumption is, you think the light turned on b/ of the alternator, in which case, you would be incorrect, the CEL does not light up when the alt. is dead/dying. The battery light and/or brake light will light in the event the alt is bad.

what he said i'm on the same boat. ALT has NOTHING to do with check engine lights. i had a completely dead alt. and it was running just off the battery. enought to start it enough to not let the battery light turn on cause it was over 12 volts like 12.3v and never a check engine light.
none of us are god. If you need some help first step is go to to autozone. and get it scanned and write down the Pxxxx number and maybe what it has to do with. say o2 sensor or knock sensor. seems very common on our POS's. while your there get a quote for your alternator. come back home post it up and we tell you what we think. you go back buy your altnetor if needed and items to cure light
