What the....??

So I went to emissions, failed cause of problems, fixed my car and went to test again and got a code. Codes are evap which suck. Obviously p0440 and p1448. So I went to check it out and 1448 does not exist?! It's the same as code 0309 and that is an undefined code. So how the hell do I fix the car in the few days I have left to retest if I don't know what the problem is? Anybody got any advice?

How long before the light comes on? I'd clear it right before taking the test.

You can't do that. The monitors will not set if you bring it right after you have the code cleared.

Just talked to my father and I have no options really. Undefined code...no way I'll be able to check everything in time so I'll have to bring it to the mechanic. Luckily we have a friend of the family who is one so he should give me a fair deal.

Haha, actually the EGR system is beneficial when it's functioning properly..

But w/e most aren't familiar with what it's actually there for among other things.

Oh, and on the '95 ECU. I hate SES lights..

my rear O2 is zip tied under my car still no CEL.

i have ditched the EGR,EVAP,MAP/boost sensor,PCV system and the IACV setup and the only cel i have is the IACV CEL because its not there. thats exspected because apparently it needs feedback to adjust and it see's none

Yeah, somehow I'm getting a 0400 lately, too (insufficient/excessive EGR flow). I have everything place, too, I just have the manifold sealed off and the EGR valve sealed off.

Maybe that's my problem...I think mine is Cali, oddly enough. It's spent 100% of it's life in NJ and PA, but IIRC, according to the VIN it's cali-spec. Which, for early build '95's pretty much means just about nothing (except maybe some ECU differences?) and a slightly different EVAP/EGR setup.

The code I believe is a Cali only code. I had it on my 98 I30. It's the charcoal canister vent at the back of the car. Behind the left rear tire is the canister. Pull the valve thing off (two screws and two hoses). Clean it with brake cleaner, spray some silicone spray in it and put it back on. Check the hoses that go to it while you're down there. Then reset the light and you should be golden. The P1448 is EVAP Vent Stuck Open, for the record. Good luck!

well even tho I already passed inspection a month ago I do still have that code. So since it's stuck open I need a new one or what? I'm not sure how to go about fixing that.

You might not need a new one. Take the canister off the car (one or two bolts hold it up, and then move a bracket and pull it out, but disconnect the hoses first). Then, the valve comes off with two screws. You have to pull it kinda hard to get it off, it's on there good. There's two places where a hose connects, run brake cleaner through one so it comes out the other. Do that for a bit, then spray some silicone spray through it and put it all back together. While you're down there, check the hoses that run to the canister. That area of the car gets all the road crap, so it's not uncommon for there to be problems down there. I'll see if I can get some pictures to show this.
