Airbag light troubles.....

Friday afternoon I got into the car after school and started up my car no problem with no warning lights and got home fine. Ambient temp read 109 degrees. It had been baking in the sun for 7 hours. 15 mins later after the interior had cooled a little bit, I went out to the store and during startup the light did not blink like usual and 10 secs after starting it began to flash. I pulled the code 0202 - which I believe is the driver side airbag.

I drove with the ANNOYING light all afternoon and reset it before going out for the night. It stayed off all night, but first thing Saturday AM it was on when I started it up. I let it go again until this afternoon, when I reset it...it went off. Drove 15 mins. Parked for 15 mins. and was right back.

Now, what can I do to troubleshoot this. Other than taking out the entire airbag and module crap, is there anything I can do to avoid the dealership. I cannot stand having **** going wrong with my car and I really do not want do drop a large chunk of my bank account. P.S. This happened right after I spent 3 hours detailing the car on Thursday....and I was thinking maybe I loosened some harness under the seat while I was vacumning. Any suggestions?

I'm not totally sure on this, but I believe all SRS equipment has federally-mandated extended warranty coverage. They may be required to replace the faulty safety equipment still. Worth a shot to ask..

This topic has been discussed before. Most likely it is caused by loose harness.

Try to check all harnesses and reset it. If it does not work, the SRS module might be faulty. You need to replace it.

I solve this problem by, placing the key into ignition and placing it on AC/ON, then you want to press the door nipple on the driver side 10 times while in this mode. It will reset the code, sometime it will take two attempts, you will notice the airbag light flash slower, the second time it will go away. Its a common problem on some of the 4th gens.

I was using the same methods to reset the light...just that it would not stay reset. My problem was a loose harness under the passenger seat leading to the pass. side airbag. I ziptied the harness that had broken off to the main harness and reattached it to its proper position, reset the light, and it has been off ever since. The only thing different is that instead of blinking at startup for the first 10 seconds, it remains lit up for 10 seconds before disappearing.

Then get your lazy **** under the seats and check for loose wires/broken brackets. If not you can spend $ and get buttraped by a dealer to fix it.

Then you have a problem with your SRS system that needs to be diagnosed by a dealer/tech.
