Timing cover, pass side of the motor, right behind the radiator.

Odd question. If you know what it looks like, I'm sure you know a belt runs around it. Follow the belt!

Check out this site, has a full walk through guide for removal which I, being a total noob in mechanics and cars, was able to use and replace my alternator in three hours! Worked out fantastic

http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/500

Just MAKE EXTRA EXTRA SURE and take YOUR TIME in figuring out how the belt tensioner works before completely undoing it.

Its fairly easy, jack up the car, take out front passenger wheel, and covers under the car and by the oil filter and have someone help you, should be set.

If you have any questions, PM me.

If you can't find it, that would probably be because the 4th gen doesn't have an alternator. Do some research.

And have fun swapping it out if you do it yourself. Its not too hard, but VERY time consuming the first time you do it, due to the location. This isnt a 15 minute Ford alternator swap.

i did mine last night...

u dont have to remove the fans...
all u need to do is remove the ac compressor bolts and push it aside....

then pull out the alternator.... dont get one from autozone cuz i went there and the one that is supposed to fit doesnt.... the bracket is way too wide

i had to go to advance auto parts and pick up the correct one....
