Nipples on headlights

Nipples on headlights

What is the main reason the nipples are on the headlights?

Would it hurt if i shaved them off?

they for a triangle something about alignment of beam that way but thats really pointless and not the eaiest way.

Sand them off ASAP. they damage my cloth and sponge when i wash my car more then anything

They are there for a tool to align the light correctly. The tool sits on the bumps to stay parallel to the light.
