What effects does a bad o2 and a bad knock sensor have on the car......??? Will the car accelerate slower have poor gas mileage etc...... ?

I have both goin bad and I need to replace just been noticing my car doesn't take it off like it used to I have an auto...

I had both O2 sensors and a knock sensor go out on me. My knock sensor was bad before the O2 sensors. When the O2's went, I got bad gas mileage and poor acceleration. I changed the O2's and now it's back to normal. I called a local dealership and they advised me to just change the O2's and run 93 gas for the knock sensor. I'm averaging about 425-450 a tank. Same as before the O2 sensors.

ive had a bad ks since october, hasnt effected anything, my o2 went bad and killed my gas mileage and acceleration. Definately replace the O2, the ks isnt worth replacing as long as you use good gas. Get an intake for better gas mileage a little more gittyup.

I would wait on the knock sensor and get the O2 sensors.

You have that reversed.

o2 sensors do not affect acceleration in any way shape or form.

The knock sensor, on the other hand, DOES affect performance since it affects timing.

To the OP, your o2 sensor may be the only one that's bad. 9 times out of 10, if those 2 codes popped up, the o2 is typically the cuplrit. BTW, what codes did you get?

lol I have the same exact issue - throwing codes for knock and o2 sensors, as well as coil packs. I was going to replace the knock only but after reading this I'll reconsider.

EDIT: I found the cheap knock sensor on eBay, but whats a good place to get an oxygen sensor for cheap?

what do you mean in a shop? i would really try to change those yourself you can really save yourself some money I changed both knock and o2 sensors last weekend the o2 sensors in my opinion were harder just because they were seized on there and i had to spray the sh*t out of them with pblaster and really put some muscle into it but the knock sensor is more of a finesse job

I just ordered a ks off ebay today. I will def be changing that myself. Complete waste of money imo to have someone do it for you. Though, it's def a finesse job like Benzmcs said.

Very poor gas mileage and eventually crappy performance (overtime)

I have somewhat the same issue - throwing codes 0304 + 0506,

tremendous amount of gas passing through tail pipe + smoke, had
the exact problem 3-4 months ago, was throwing 02 codes, changed firewall side sensor, car worked fine, now same thing, but no o2 codes, just the ones above, tested the MAF, crank sensor, 2 x O2 sensors, all good.

Much appreciate any insight,

cheers.

If you want better acceleration following the resolution of your maintenance issues, consider an aftermarket y-pipe.

I recommend the Budget stainless steel y-pipe.
