if your maf is bad, you car wont drive fine.... but yes you can drive it...itll run like dog**** and might stall and shut off and buck. people will think your trying to 'walk it out' in your car.

your MAF musn't be completely shot, I just tried taking my MAF out to see if it would make a difference in my car, I believe mine might be bad, and the car runs just as rough but if you try to give it some gas it'll just stall

Why do you say you have a bad MAF sensor? What codes are you getting?

MAF sensors are expensive as hell. Around $400 i believe, and that's not from a dealer.

Damn close. Got mine from a junkyard though, $100 just fine now.

Where is the MAF on a 1996 Maxima GLE?

I've looked all over and I cannot seem to find the tutorial. Can someone give me a hand? Mine is bad also and I have the part available, I just don't know how to put it in or where it is on the engine. Thanks!

Connects the airbox (big black box on right side of engine) and the midpipe (accodrian type thing that is connected to the throttle body). Has a purple Nissan sticker on it.

Thanks chief! I just went out there and found it.

See, late last night my car started sputtering at low RPM's and I smelled a rich gas smell coming from my tailpipe. Keep in mind, the SES light only came on when the car would cut out.

Today, there was severe hesitation and it cut off when I came to a stop sign. It cranked right back up and even when I fully depressed the gas pedal, it still did NOT want to exceed roughly 2K RPM's and wanted to die again.

Once I got on the highway, it was fine even though it still ran a little sluggish. Everyone keeps telling me that it's probably the MAF so I decided to check with you guys first.
