In my 95 Maxima, the glove box light is activated when the headlights are turned on, however, the ligh remains on even when the glove box is closed, as long as the headlamps remain on. Is there a sensor inside the glove box which I have damaged or is there just no sensor at all?

Open the glove box door. Look for a small push-button switch on the left-hand side. The switch is mounted in the dashboard and the button is pressed by the glove box door when it is closed. This arrangement is similar to the light switch in your refrigerator.
