i think the bonneville is like a 97 or somewhere around there, and the max is a 98.. is there any difference in engine between the 95-98 maxs? i know the body styles differnt any thing else? so who would win, max or bonneville?

Good question!

I have both cars, maxima GLE 1997 and Bonneville SSEi 1992, and believe from my experience that Boneville will beat my max easily and it was tested on the hwy, however handling is not great at Boneville, and its super at max. At other aspects of driving Boneville is super but eats up gas thats all I can say.

RE: Engine Differences...

The 1995 Maxima has the least emission controls, so it is the fastest (not by much) of the 4th generation. The 1997-1998 are heavier than the 1995-1996, so they are slower than these as well (not bymuch again). Of course, there are minor aesthetic differences between the 1995-1998, but the engine remains mainly the same - the differences are truely personal tast though. Some people like the older look, and some people the newer. There's not much of a price difference within competing models. Just trying to help.

As I said Boneville is very fast car, and starts from start much faster then maxima you even can feel its force of going ahead. Maxima cannot do that even if you push gas all way down.

Why you have questions about Boneville? Trying to buy boneville? if yes, then do not buy, because their trans have reputation to fry up around 120-150k miles, while max can go all way to 200-300k miles.

Hope it helps you!

but those are only for the supercharged 3.8L V6 in the Bonny right? The lower-trim Bonnevilles have a NA V6 and are slower than the Max?

In my experience - Yes. I have beaten a 96-98 bon in the 1/4 last time I raced. He ran a 17.5 and I ran a slow 17.3 in my '95 GXE auto. I wasnt impressed at all.

Dude! be realistic! your car is modified, we were talking about regular maxes which most of us have and regular bonneville inluding ones with supercharger which i have.

If you had stock max, you would NEVER beat boneville if it is old one.

Also word of smart guys: "racing is not cool!"

Do something usefull like chase girls instead of doing stupid races?

I raced on a track where they timed our 1/4 mile times. Do not lecture me on racing! I am taking offence to this due to the fact that I am the only one who spoke about racing one. I did it in a controled environment where there was ABSOLUTLEY NO TRAFIC! I was on a F***ING track for G**'s sakes! People who are anti-street racing have a good point and I personaly support their argument, BUT DO NOT lecture me on racing!

Ok now if you have a stock max and can't beat the older Bonneville's then you have problems. they were 3700lbs, slow shifting autos with 205hp. the new ones have 240 but are still HEAVY so you can keep up

Thanks, racing is kewl

And i do chase more than my share of girls.

By the way, i beat all those car without my NOS it wasn't installed then.

take easy! most of time posts describing about racing are 99% which were done on hwy or streeets which is not smart or cool thing. About you doing it at race track thats your business and i do not care about it, and how much time you got such as 15 sec or whatever. you think i care? Nope, and same with our majority maxima owners who love our cars and do not like reading about someone doing extreme stuff to maxima.

perhaps you can take your race stuffs to other topics named "Racers corner"?

*sigh*
It appears that you missed my previous point. If you read my first post here you will see that I said "I have beaten a 96-98 bon in the 1/4". Now, Im a little confused as to how this quote may be mistaken as to be understood as though I did it on the street. Hmmmm......as for the times, I was just providing the necissary proof that some members here would have wanted to know. It is true that some Maxima owners baby their cars so much as to never take them above 3000 rpm, I am not one of them, nor are most of the people on this site. If I was only here to post about racing I would spend 100% of my time in the "racers corner". If you look through all 250 or whatever of my posts you will find ZERO of them there. If you dont like reading about Maxima drivers doing "extreme stuff" to their cars that is up to you. If you think that the thread/post you are about to read may relate to that - skip it!

K

P.S. I wasnt dissagreeing with you about how stupid street racing is, but you singled me out to post that for and I take offense to that.

My friends dad used to have a 95 SSEi.... supercharged.. That car was a beast, I tried racing him in my dads 87 Sable from 20 mph and he toasted me like 5 car lengths by the time I reached 25
But, umm... I tried my luck with my max, back when it was still in great running condition, from a dead stop I jumped in front good, then he began pulling hard around 40, then we were even and by 50-60 he started to pull away, I'd say if we continued he would take me by 4-5 car lengths by the time we reached a 100.... They handle like ****, I do not like the steering feel at all, interior plastic feels cheap, only good part was the nice comfy leather, good room and automatic climate control

ofcourse i own a 3rd gen, but it's a VE

Uh, where are you located that you got 17s? I'm not flaming, but that's pretty darn slow.

*sniff* Colorado It sucks driving at about 4900 feet everyday. Power is just not there. Plus I have 150,000 miles on my '95 GXE Auto. Im going to hit up the track again friday. Last time I went to the track I was completley stock, now I have mods I'll let you guys know how it goes on the sticky 1/4 post thread. Im also going to get a custom dual cat-back exhaust done this comming week. I'll let you guys know how that improves the time as well. One quick question though...Which muffler is louder - Stillen or Flowmaster? Which is least restrictive? Thanks.
