I have been getting check engine light every since a month after i purchased my car 2 years ago.
Last year, I dont remember what happened I didn't have to get emission, not sure why, to get my tag renewed.
I know what code it throws, 0302 I believe EGR sensor.
The reason I didnt fix this is b/c I read posts on this code but no one had a straight forward solution to this problem.
I tried resetting my ECU where my engine light came back on 30miles after.
What should I do, I need to get emission in 2weeks.
If you know a solution to 0302 or emission let me know(nothing illegal).

well from SEARCHING around here i found that people need to clean the EGR tube by taking it off.

search for EGR valve using the free search (make sure u click on maxima forum search)

 

Yes clean the EGR tube. It's amazing how little buildup you need for it to trigger that code. I took mine apart and cleaned both ends and the code is gone now. I think the instructions are in the stickies.

 

anyone know if there is a gasket where the egr tube connects to the upper manifold?

 

Yes a gasket on each end. Don't have to replace it.
