Is it possible to swap the front seats?

Hello,

I have a 95 GLE with black leather seats (driver: power, passenger, manual).

The driver's seat is worn out; The leather is ripped and the foam in the seat does not give any padding anymore. The passenger side padding is much better and the leather is not ripped.

I was wondering if it was possible to just swap the seat cushions themselves (in order to keep the power seat on the driver's side). Has anybody done this before?

i havent looked into tearing around into the seats that much. keep an eye on the 4th gen classifieds or go to your section on the forums and see if you can luck up on someone selling a drivers seat in real good condition

also got junk yards as an option.

you could buy aftermarket, or find a place that does interior work in autos for something new. good luck

I've taken apart my non leather non powered seats before. The bottom cushion is just bolted onto the seat frame and can come off as one part. You should be able to swap the bottom cushions easily.

That is good news! Hopefully I'll have a chance to look at it tomorrow.

Okay, so yesterday I swapped the front seats.

There are 4 bolts that hold the seat to the floor, and 4 bolts that hold the bottom seat cushion to the seat frame.

Unfortunately, the threads for 2 of the bolts are in different positions on the seat bottoms. However, there are still holes in the right spots (No threads = original small bolts spin freely in the hole). So, I went and got some bigger bolts that would thread through those holes.

Everthing worked and I bolted everything back down. However, Nissan decided to save a few cents on seat fabric and not cover the metal seat frame on the right side of the driver's seat cushion (I guess they figured the center console would normally block your view). So, now when you open the passenger side front door the seat frame and the metal part of the cushion is exposed.

It looks like I'll be looking for some leather or vinyl type fabric that I can cover up the exposed area. Other than that, having the passenger cushion on the driver's side is much more comfortable for the daily commute.
