I just want to DRIVE it again....
Hell, I'd be happy even just HEARING it again.
The Lady grenaded her motor 3 weeks ago. I have been at the throats of every employee at the warranty company, to no avail. K&N said that their Magnuson-Moss Act only covers MANUFACTURER'S warranties. The dealer I bought the car from said I could trade the car in and maybe get a GTO, but the negative equity from not having it paid off is going to jack up my payment a TON. The dealership where the car is sitting has been fairly cool with all of it so far, by not charging me storage fees, because they know that the warranty company is f*cking me over.
Basically, I'm spending $230/week for a rental car (and a PT Cruiser at that!) to get back and forth to work. Public transportation doesn't go out to the 'burbs, where I work, and it's a 68-mile round trip, every day. Think of it like this... my car PAYMENT is only 271 per MONTH.
I'm just SOOOO f*cking frustrated, and SOOOOOO f*cking broke, that I don't really have a whole lot of options. I have officially reached the point of "FUBAR."

drop everything, either get the GTO for whatever payments u get, or just get urself a 500 dollar 1991 buick regal (i used to drive that when the times were hard) and drive it for now
just get something For Now -- no point in renting anymore, u could have bought like a 2000 dollar buick already.
Dude this is obvious that the max is kaput. tow the car home, part it out to cover SOME of the losses, and get something cheap for now until u get back on ur feet.
i really am sorry to hear this story go on and on for ya, but look - nothing happened so far with the warranty. just forget it, or rent the PT shmuzer for the rest of ur life...sorry man this situation sucks !!!

that blows man, i'd be havin a heart attack puttin up with that ****. a buick andre??? c'mon man, get online and check autotrader.com and they'll have any car any style private and dealers as well. put in price and how far your willin to drive and you should be able to find something to hold you over or better. good luck and don't rush into anything.
So let them keep the evil ride!!!
i suggest the buick because of my limited experience with it i felt like the car was an indestructible rock. for its age, it drove very well, like a boat, but i survived for that time being, my max came right after the red on red monstero
or you could call it the chrome monster (the trunk was even more shiny)
160.000 KM !!!!

i was the second owner of a 16 Y/O car

I agree get yourself a beeter for $500, tow thow the max to yoru house, and do an engine swap. You're in chicago there's enough guys around your area that would be willing to come over on a weekend and work for the cost of -- keg and dogs/burgers.

living downtown = no garage or driveway. street parking ftmfl!
It's been posted over on chicagomaximaclub.net, but the bottom line is, I don't earn enough (even with 60 hour weeks) to pay rent, bills, car payment, insurance, gas, credit cards, etc.... This couldn't have happened at a worse time.
Man that sucks to hear, my car has a whole lot of issues with it but at least it's still driveable. The only advice i would try and give you is to make a decision soon otherwise your going to waste more money on that rental. The $2,000 that you've spent already on the rental could have been halfway towards a decent fuel efficient car. XD
If the engine is bad, there were couple of guys who are selling their 3.0 buy that and pay someone to put it in.
I think that's the most cost effective way to go right now. If you don't have the money, open a credit card with 0% intereste for 12 months if you get approved.
lol that's what i did when i had to pay off my student loans tranferred to credit card with 0% apr.
