Battery and brake light on.

This is NOT a alt fuse problem, or a loose belt. The reason I am posting is I have both lights on, but I am getting 14.5 volts on the battery when running. I checked the alternator plug and one prong is broken off. So one prong is allowing it to charge, but the other one is telling the car is not charging. So how can I bypass the missing prong? It looks as if I ground the circuit it will turn the lights off. Can I please have some help.

I had a broken prong doing the same thing, I swapped alternators.

I believe you would have to unground terminal #42 on the gauges, but don't quote me on that, refer to the fsm if you really want a quick ghetto fix.

No sh*t!

I told you one of the two prongs is broken off the "alternator". The problem is the alternator is less then a month old. So I obviously do not want to purchase another.

Warranty, return it. Minor pain removing it again though.

The brake light would indicate that either your low on brake fluid or your parking brake is up, good luck.
