Hey guys I got a 1996 Nissan Maxima and everything on my speedo works (fuel, temp, rpm) but the acual speed your going the MPH gauge doesnt work....Also Im having some tranny problems and I need to get it replaced could this be why by any chance?

 

check the speed sensor... it probably doesnt work... or the wire is cut somewhere..

its in the trans... right on top next to the drivers side cv axle..

Check the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). There was a write-up about 10 days ago on the 4th gen forum about how do DIY. The part was $38.

 

if its not the speed sensor.. which is usually isn't the speed sensor.. i had the exact problem.. you'll be looking into a new gauge cluster from the salvage yard like i did.. ahhh the speedometer.. one of the most common problems with the 4 gen..

nah I havent had major problems so far its all been getting fixed for a resonable price but the major thing now is my tranny but it doesnt bother me cause Im getting it ready for nitrous almost complete so new tranny should be a little better
