Speed gov'nor?.

I have a 97 GXE auto converted to 5 speed. all 5 speed parts are swapped from a 97 SE model (including the ECU). How and why does my fuel still cuts off before 120MPH?....let me know....thanx

I think the wiring was different between the SE and GXE for the speed thing.

SOmeone correct me if I'm wrong.

Also when do you go 120+?

Anyway, have you tried interrupting the VSS signal to the ECU and see if it still governs your top speed? FTR, my '95 SE has none, and I can't seem to find any definitive source of what does and doesn't have a speed limiter (re: trim/year)

Wiring should be constant across all trim levels. Here's from the 97 FSM:

And just for reference, it's hooked up the exact same as the one on my '95:

All speedo circuits are the same, it's completely ECU dependant. Are you absolutely sure (OP) that it's a 5MT ECU?

Let me check it...I would actually think once you change the ECU from a GXE to a SE 5 speed it would comply max out instead of cutting out....my other max born an SE does not have that issue. I wonder if there is any other source that might give me fuel cut off right at 120.
