which mod next?

I have a 95 se 5spd with wheels and tires, a catback and modified intake so far. i have about 250 bucks to spend and i was just wondering what you guys think is the best way to go. i dont really plan on going to the track or anything just yet but probably eventually. i was debating between a sway bar and strut bar, a y pipe, a different intake or just keep saving for a drop. what would your guys suggest?

Do you prefer handling or acceleration? IMO suspension is the best mod you can do on our cars.

250 is probably not enough for suspension. Y-Pipe would be the best bang for the buck.

If you want to improve handling and cornering get the RSB. I have said it once and I will continue you to say it; I have no clue why the Max did not come with some sort of RSB stock. The difference b/w setups is night and day. You will eliminate most of the body roll and boat in the ocean feel on highways. Cornering will also become a bit sharper with less lean. A must have for any 4th Gen, hands down.

A strut bar is 15 bucks on ebay and to be quite honest Im not sure whether it helped me any. I havent noticed anything spectacular from it but who knows it may be doing something afterall.

A Y-Pipe is the best bang for the buck power mod as far as N/A applications are concerned. Mine is still sitting in the garage because Im waiting on 02 sensors but I hear that it adds dramatic power over 3.5K RPM. There is a dyno out there that shows a 20 hp difference at some points in the power band. Expect ~13 hp+ in the overall scheme of things. $250 dollars might not cut it though. New they go for about $240+Shipping, but you can probably find one used here on the org. Dont forget installation (70-100) plus those pesky O2 sensors which either get ripped apart during the installation or fail soon after($65 a piece and there are 2 on the pipe).

I would say go with a RSB for now, you can probably find one use for around $100-150. Throw in a front strut bar for $hits and giggles, too!

2 cents

^^^+1........Be wise, find a good used y pipe and rsb here or elsewhere. For 250 I think you can find all 3 in good condition, but as another orger said fstb is cheap so look for a good rsb and y pipe.

I dont think the 15 dollar ebay FSTB's are worth anything. Ive heard of some being able to be pressed on and bend when hot. Id say if you do get an FSTB get one that is worth it from a name you know. It may be more expensive but youll see the difference. My turns are tighter and you get more of a planet feel with the vehicle.

If all you have is 250$, go home, save, spend it on something else.

Do real mods if you're seriou s about modding.

i.e. SFC's, struts, springs, RSB, wheels, tires, headers, VI, piggyback, WB,

With 250 he could get a used y-pipe, RSB, and springs of his choice. My ADDCO RSB was 40, my y pipe was used but still very new at 145 shipped(I was lucky), and he can get some springs at his choice used. If youre wanting these all new then save more. These were all used prices but used is just as good at times.

Warpspeed aluminized Y pipe is under $200 if you mention the "maxima.org discount". I got mine a couple years ago for $160 with shipping (I think, my memory is kinda fuzzy).

The Y would be a really good investment for power, especially since you already have a cat-back and an intake -- your stock Y pipe is the bottleneck. I noticed an immediate power improvement, even though I don't have an intake or catback.
