help: idle drops

Please help I've tried just about everything. When my car is ideling my car does a hiccup and the idle wouldd drop to 400rpm for a second than back to normal and than it does it again. It's like it has the hiccups. Here are the things I've tried to remedy the problem:
fuel filter, new knock sensor, new maf, clean iavc, new plugs, tested all the coil pack, clean the throttle body.

unfortunately it's still doing it and I'm out of ideas. any suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

I had this very same problem and it was because my spark plugs were not gapped correctly make sure that they are gapped at 44. A lot of people buy the plugs and just stick it in that is not the proper way to do it.

Compression test and vacuum reading @ idle would be the next steps. Also, if you have access to an obdII scanner the fuel trims and coolant temp would be helpful as well.

Also when u gap them to 44 do it with a needle nose pliers because the gapper will break the little ngk tip. aslo it says it comes pre gapped but just pull one and see its at 39-40 and thats a big difference.

I had the very same problem a month ago. I tried numerous things...i think the culprit was bad gas.

yea i had the same problem on my 93 SE and cleaning the throttle body did the trick. honestly i can say i never measured my plugs. i just assumed that they were pre measured and i never had a problem. guess i just got lucky. immona go waste 99 cents this weekend for a gapper.

Wait a sec...you said you changed the plugs & the problem remained. Then you re-gapped the Iridiums & it fixed the problem. So what caused it originally? Your old plugs were worn? I'm a little puzzled that incorrect plug gapscan cause such an issue.

Why would you puzzled if the gapping is off its not going to run right. Some maximas are different then others so you probably wont see it in some. But my 95 does it sometimes if the gapping is wrong. I use to wonder why too but thats the way i got it fixed. Gapped it to 44. But then my 96 had the same problem but this time it was because throttle body was dirty... which is why i ripped of my egr. It just all depends on what your problem is.

Yea just go to advanced auto parts and ask them for a spark plug gapper... its 80 somthing cents i think. Its nothing complicated about gaping your plugs. Make sure that the gap is 44 on on the gapper doesn't matter what plug it is going to be 44. If your still lost use google or ask the guy at the parts store.
