Shudder on clutch release - 1st gear

I have a 1999 max GXe w/ 5 spd. When moving from a dead stop i have to feather the gas pedal cause the car studders/shudders.Once the car gets going all is fine.
Car has clean filter/ clean TB/ no codes/good plugs.

Any Suggestions?

I think I have the same issue, but mine only happens when the car isn't warmed up. Is it the same with you?

sounds like it may be the TOB ... but it doesn't do it in other gears or at any other times? i would think it would if it was the TOB, but ... from no load to load, is the hardest on the bearing so ... odd.

miles? maint records at all? how long has it been doing this, what made you notice it?

more info would be good!

how long have had this car? I know i need to give some gas while engaging the clutch or else it shutters. only high torque cars can get moving smoothly without touching the gas pedal

i don't think he's trying to slip the clutch at all ... i think if he doesn't bring the revs up, it'll die on clutch release (full). ??? maybe i misunderstood ...

MY car is just really extremely sensitive and it does learch if I don't let go of the clutch really slow when the car is cold. In fact it is hard for me to drive in 1st gear for a little while cruzing in a parking lot when she is cold because if I hit the gas a tiny bit the car will like jump and feel shaky. I know these cars can be torquey but come on not that much now...

I can engage fine without gas in first. This car has plenty of Torque to do something like that...

My car does this in first gear...once i get over 2000 rpms and let off the gas, then reapply the gas, if I am not perfect or jam the pedal, the car gets jerky and my passengers hate me...

However, this is the same in most manuals I have driven so it is not a big deal to me. I have just learned to shift into 2nd if I am cruising around a parking lot.

mine just started too

I'm having the same problem now when I start out in 1st gear. if I'm not super gentle and feather the clutch the car shutters. just today I watched my girlfriend pull away in my car and I could see the front wheel shaking around as it happened.

I'm also having this issue. I just rebuilt my transmission about 2 months ago, so I really doubt it's the throwout bearing. I'm leaning more towards engine mounts or control arm bushings since those are still original.

Probably engine mounts if anything is even wrong to begin with, my car does this and my mounts are bad. Def not suspension related because i just replaced just about everything that can be replaced there and this has occured before and after.

Id honestly just chalk it up to 1st gear being really torquey. I pretty much get out of first gear and get it into second soon as possible if im in traffic or going at a snails pace, otherwise my whole car will jerk when i hit the gas after coasting in 1st. As far as i know the VQ30 is known to be a fairly torquey engine for what it is.

So - maybe this is just the nature of 1st gear for our cars, which is possibly amplified by worn mounts?

I've got the same issue. Replaced one transmission due to bad TOB, didn't touch the clutch (Stupid I know, I was in a time crunch). Does the exect same thing wth this trans. My bet is motor mounts or the clutch itself. Maybe this is what people call "clutch chatter"
