Crankshaft position sensor problems

A few weeks ago my max started having some hard starts and a backfire here or there. I pulled the code and it led me to the crankshaft position sensor located on the tranny. I pulled out the sensor and cleaned it with some alcohol and that solved the problem for a few days. After that, cleaning it didnt do much so today I went and bought a new one from Autozone, changed it out and now the car wont even start. So as of now the old one is in there and im dealing with the hard start. Any ideas as to why the new one doesnt work at all?

Look down inside the sensor at the connector end with it unplugged. Make sure the male pins in the sensor are not bent, causing it not contact the harness when it plugged in. It happens more than you think.

don't forget to do the harness test the way it shows on the Hyanes manual

also remove the sensor(pos) and look thru the hole with a flashlight have someone turn the the engine with by hand using the appropriate tools( a 17mm socket i believe and a long handle bar) and look at the timing ring(behind flywheel) is the one that interact with the POS sensor if one or more teeth are stripped then you got to replace it

one more thing if you found that is bad let me know cause i was in the same situation a few weeks ago and found a place where you can get the damn timing ring cause the only way to get it new is buying the whole flywheel at more than $250
