Black canister on the drivers side

Their is a black canister on the drivers side frame. It has two vacum lines on it. Im wondering if I cant take it out ANd im wondering what does it do?

In the engine bay? That would be the charcoal canister if I'm thinking of the same place. Back down underneath the brake booster by the fuel filter. IIRC only the 95's had it up front like that.

yep thats it I wanting to get rid of it to make some room. But im wondering what does it do and what will happen when I remove it.

It's for the evap system. You can always retro in a later year 4th gen charcoal canister, they had them in the back by the tank IIRC. That, or disconnect the line that comes from the tank and hang it road draft style, then remove the canister, the evap purge solenoids and all that.. Makes vacuum tree a little simpler too.

If you toss it you will get some fuel smell. I did it on my sentra with no ill effects.
