Ac Compressor leak? Maybe?
Hey guys, I need help!! My Ac just stopped working yesterday, and it's like freaking 100 degrees in ATL, so i'm sweating my ***** off now going home.
But anyways, I got the system checked by a local mechanic and he told me the compressor has a leak? Is that possible? Because when I click the auto button i can hear the compressor turning on (clicking sound).
I always thought only the pipes leak. Just to make sure THERE ARE ONLY TWO HOSES (UPPER AND LOWER) CORRECT?
Also, where can i buy a compressor, I've checked ebay and they only have it either 91-94 or 98-99. I've got a 97.

Thanks let me know.

Yes, your mechanic is correct, sort of.
The leak he is referring to is internal; that is, the compressor is working but leaking pressure inside itself. If you were to have a gage on the LOW side while it is running, it would probably show the pressure being excessive, like above 60psi.
Only solution is a new or reman compressor. Neither one is cheap.

Replacing a compressor is very expensive. You should rule out problems at other places of the a/c system before working on compressor.
Sometimes shop also makes mistakes in diagnosing AC problems.
