You should just get Don's VB upgrade and save yourself the headache.

Also, using search feature would have told you this as well.....

Man, this must be against your religion to do a 5spd swap eh ? If it doesnt hurt my car, what is wrong with it. Usually I praise people if they want to modify their car to their liking if it doesnt involve harming the automobile. Did you have a bad experience with this Bill ? Also, it is not a headache, its actually exciting. I dont see what so much of a headache is to just find all the parts I need. Im just going to do this slowly and effectivley so i can get all the parts I need. Im in no rush.

I just don't want you to take this lightly. If it were easy, this site would be plastered with all kinds of write-ups on how to do it.....

I agree with Bill99GXE. However, if you have your heart set on doing the conversion, purchase a parts car to serve as an organ donor. That way you get everything you need in one package. Buying the parts onesy-twosy will probably cost more.

Maxima.Org members Cbr2 and Hlh0501 just did this conversion and have promised a complete writeup about their experience. See http://forums.maxima.org/showthread...=&postid=383034

Nobody can answer this question precisely. It depends on how much you pay for parts and how much you pay for labor. Figure $3K and you might be lucky enough to pay less. If you will do all the work, then your out-of-pocket cost is only the parts. Warning: it is a lot of work.

He is right. Think about it. Your transmission is under alot of engine parts. That means ALOT of work doing surgery on your engine to get to it.

Don's VB Mod, or a Level 10 Tranny upgrade will make you feel much better about your auto tranny. But besides, you should anyways. After all, its a maxima.
