Switched to 93 tonight...

After reading lots of reviews on putting in better gas on Motorvate. I am gonna do preimuim instead of plus. It just seems better for my car and my Knock sensor will like it more. I also heard on that site that you would see a lot of gains in HP. And this was on a dyno too...

You are going to have to fill about 2-4 more times with premium. Try getting your tank relatively low so you can remove ALL the 87. The ECU will also take time to adjust the maps.

The knock sensor does not "like it more". The knock sensor is just doing its job when you feed it 87.

Gas is toooooo expensive and 87 runs fine ... why pay the extra? The KS works as long as there is detination in the cylinder btw, no matter if you run NOS or wattered down unleaded.

Why save money on gas when you will lose anywhere from 3-5 mpg on 87 octane. They average out to be about the same price in the end, and the 93 runs smoother more HP and is what Nissan reccomends for the max.

It's all good ... run what ya run ... I get 33 mpg on the hwy (which is a lot of my driving) on regular unleaded I don't gun it on the hwy and run 75 - 80 @ 3k-33k RPMs (5spd).

But ... I guess 93 would burn cleaner and maybe give more HP, but I don't need it .... so I guess that is my point.

Cheers!

I know 93 will help keep my car running strong which it has been from day one so I'm sticking with 93 in any car I own. The prices dont bother me to much since I'm used to just paying it now.

We are only talking about $3 per tank more than 87. If you are already paying 45 bucks. Whats another 3 ??? My car is worth the little extra for better performance and longtivity!!!!

Actually, Nissan recommends 91. I had an intermittently working knock sensor, so I switched from 87 to 91 and the problem fixed itself. Plus, my car gets such better gas mileage now. 95% city driving with a leadfoot and I still manage 22 mpg.

I been putting in 91 not 87... lol aw hell no...

My max also likes shell a lot more when it comes to mileage. I gain like 10-15 more miles with it. I just put in Mobil last night cause I did not have enough gas to go to the 24hour shell... And it was 11pm. Mobil still is good though...

yah, I know it will take a 2 tanks to get the benefit, and I did run the tank pretty dry last night. I hit the orange light and I went 25miles and than filled up. I'd say that is pretty nice and dry... lol

Haha yeah, it's hard to notice until it comes on. I never approached empty for the first couple months so I didn't know there was one. It's a little orange circle in the middle of the gas gauge. Look closely and you can see the outline.
