Got out of the hospital today ... Maxima gone

So I left 10 minutes late to work today. Nothing different about the day ... not really speeding or anything. Going eastbound on GA road 369 (for the local members) I started slowing down because the two cars ahead needed to turn left. All of a sudden, this 98 Cutlass rams into me from the rear and sends the car off the road. My back end came out, sliding across the grass, and then proceded to fall into a 6 foot ditch. The car flipped over and the airbags deployed. The car is definitely gone and totaled.

Took me like 2 minutes to crawl out of the car because i couldn't release the seat belt. I kicked the passenger door open and walked up the embankment to find the other person on the phone with 911. Police, fire, ambulance ... lalala.

Went to the hospital and thank god for no broken bones or serious neck or back injury. Just strains in the neck, back, and lower back. Pain killers and rest is all I need supposedly. I contacted my chiropractor and will visit her sometime later. Pics of car should be coming later today.

Insurance companies were contacted, police reports already filed, ... the whole 9 yards.

This came at the worst time since I was supposed to return to UGA today for class on Thursday.

EDIT: on a side note ... what cars should I be looking at. I don't want to drive my 95 GLE boat. I was too addicted to 5Spd in my 98.

Wow man.. Sorry to hear that, just be thankful that you are alive and only received minor injuries. I just spent the last two months in Fayetteville, some of the roads out there are very rural and everyone goes 60-70 when the speedlimit is 50...
I hope everything works out for you!

Sorry to hear that.. City trafic is crazy! I just moved from a small town to Tucson AZ and it really is scary out there. Trafic is heavy and people slow down suddenly and without warning. Daily I find myslef looking in my rear view to make sure I'm not about to get rear eneded. Get well soon! Most of us have been there..

Thanks for all the responses, I am not feeling too bad right now. I have plenty of money chillin because I got hit on a jet ski in 2003 so I just pay for anything I ever see in cash including college so this cash will go into another car probably.

I have been DYING to have a full 4.5 gen 6speed (ECU too), but I don't know if I can do it by myself. The labor costs would be HUGE if I paid someone to do it. I just can't bring myself to drive the automatic. I have seriously gone out of my way to avoid P-R-N-D-2-1, occasionally driving the 95 to the 98 and then to work if such a situation ever came up.

My dad just got back from the wrecker with my stuff. Car was on the side of the road so everyone could see, they left my keys in the ignition, head unit just chilling out, and my personal laptop ON the drivers' seat so every thief could take it. I was pissed. I am going back tonight to get the rest of the head unit out.

I have considered 5.5 gen, but a 4.5 gen is SO much more sleeper. I could sell the 95 if need be. Either way I REALLY clueless what to get now.

I think my budget is going to be < 16K. I think I am going to get a 2003 6Spd with HLSD. I have been looking for general performance stats. Sites say 6.0 and 14.7 seconds, but I believe those are automatic 02 (without LSD) stats.

What are the 6Spd times with HLSD stock?

EDIT: Damn it is impossible to find 6Spd, NAVI, HLSD in ATL!

My only interesting comment is that you can see where I started punching the windshield on the last image during panic. Thank god for the structural integrity of these cars. Maxima saved my life!

Only problem is that the docs said there was no permanent or long term damage so I don't think a major lawsuit will break out. I think just the meds and medical costs in the hospital will be the only things covered ... plus chiro of course. We'll see. My biggest concern is my own health and education. I really do not want to miss any school because getting behind in college is HORRIBLE.

Well "Pain and Suffering" won't give crap if there isn't long term or permanent damage ... that is why I didn't think a large lawsuit will develop.

Just make sure to keep track of EVERY expense. Do yourself a favor and set up a file folder for any transactions and don't let them settle without paying you back for every loss. You need documentation from your boss for lost work hours so you can get paid back for them.

I'm in the middle of this same situation myslef and right now I have thousands in credit card debt as a result of lost wages and medical bills that they are refusing to pay untill a settlement is made. I'm jooking forward to gtting out of the hole eventually once we get paid back!

well is the person who hit you covering any of the damages your saying this like they aren't responsible for your car, they hit you from behind correct??

and when their insurance company calls be sure to explain the strain it now has put on your personal life for school and work and you would like to be compensated for such this situation, in other words, I would like more then what my car is worth just because of that.

OK I need a 5.5 gen expert.

I want a TE with HLSD, auto climate, and black interior.

Do all TE's come with auto climate?

My possibility of finding this impossible? Is there a letter in the vin that says HLSD or is that only the transmission code?

I think a problem is that many people don't know they have TE so they don't list it.

03 sedan ... ehhh not my type. Maybe an '03 G35c. I need to do some research and see what features are included and what the year-to-year changes for the G35. You definitely got me leaning there now.

DEFINITELY a chick magnet.

EDIT: Just did some research ... i would have to cough up an extra 6-7K for a G with < 70K. Not to mention 6Spd Coupes must be unheard of in Alpharetta. Curse ATL traffic ... everyone pansies out and gets slush-boxes. I think I should attempt to save a few bucks because I REALLY want a G37 in the far future. Just saying VQ37HR sends shivers down my spine.
