What can cause this?!?!

Well my alternator died about 2 weeks ago while i was at work 60 miles from my house. Luckily i had a friend who's very tech savvy and he came down and helped me change it out in the middle of the street.

The alternator that we changed out isn't really new but it's the same one as i had from a 99 maxima, so i mean it's stock and exactly the same. Know when i have my HID's on with say the A/C at the same time i notice my clock starts to dim and then all my lights and then the ABS light pops up so i turn of the lights and the A/C and everything is back to normal, ABS light turn of right away. I don't think it's the ALT because the brake light doesn't come on just the ABS light. I never had this problem before.

The HID's are plug and play directly into the stock harness, no relays or anything (but i do have them lying around). If i have the HID's on without the A/C no problems. So obviously something is taking all the current and i don't have enough voltage to keep the car running unless i turn everything off.

I haven't checked anything yet, I'm just trying to see where to start of if someone had a similar issue. Could it be the battery is about to die because of when the ALT died? or should i put the relays for the HID's? Maybe the belts aren't tight enough after we replaced the ALT? I have no idea, i parked the car just now right by my shop so I'll be there first thing in the morning to have them check it out, but I'd like to go in there at least knowing where to start. Sorry for the long post but all help is appreciated cause I'm at a loss here.

Have the battery and alternator tested. Most auto parts places will do it for free. That's the best place to start and the price is right.

maybe a defective battery, my alt was charging my battery enough to run the car and all the components but when i turned my system on things would dim, put in a new battery and it didn't help so after along time of thinking my car is a piece i had the batt. and alt checked, and the new battey was bad too! lol so put in another new battery at the warranties expence everyrthing worked great!
