Anybody test driven an IS 300?

RE: IS300 Test Drive...
Well, I guess you could say I test drove one - my dad owned one for 2 weeks. Honestly, it wouldn't compare to the Maxima for me. I told my dad to sell it, gave him all the proper reasons and he did. The car just didn't drive well enough - it couldn't corner or accelerate like a Maxima. He likes the sporty thing too, but since the car was for my mom he ended up buying an Acura 3.5RL. Anyways, the IS300 is more luxury with aggressive looks - it just doesn't have the power to back it up. Oh yeah, and my Maxima is an automatic as well. Just trying to help.

i completly disagree, my brother has the car and ive driven it pleanty and pushed its far limits, the car is by no means a stoplight drag racer but at crusing speeds theres more then enough power available but its so refined and smooth you dont realize how fast your goin, triptronic makes it awsome for zipping around traffic, cornering is awsome and those 17" rims with $1800 tires slips on very rare ocasions. the inside is awsome, chrono gauges, suade down the middle of the seats and on the arm rests, aluminum petals and step plates, very comfortable well layed out and ergonomical interior, bumpin sound system as well

handling/ride might feel soft, but when you turn HARD the car doesn't lean at all, it can turn so much faster then my max, only complain is you can't start @ "1" with the manual automatic thing and not enough headroom

An IS handily kills the Maxima when it comes to cornering. I've driven three through the autocross and they have excellent handling, as good as a 330i with sport package. Acceleration is good, but not neck snapping. But it is very refined and has a great exhaust growl. Brakes are amazing, you just stop like you hit a brick wall. In terms of a sporty car, the IS is much sportier than a Maxima. In terms of space, it is very cramped.

I was not impressed by the IS at all. It felt very narrow and tall. I drove it on the street and on a race track. On the track the car (and tires) had about 3500 miles. The car slipped in places where the BMW held tight. As far as I remember, 0-60 seemed slow when your in the car, it doesn't throw you back into the seat, but it wasn't all that slow. The gauges seem to be ripped off of a Porsche and part Benz. The back seat is tiny, and I think they would have been better off making a two seater, a little shorter and a tad bit wider. I like the Rear Drive factor and I needs a 5 speed.
Just my thoughts.
