Yesterday I noticed a ratcheting sound when accelerating coming from the drivers side front. Today I noticed it again, and pinpointed it using DBMs rubber tube stethoscope method. Its coming from the transmission. I think its specifically coming from the clutch. Here are the symptoms:

The noise is RPM dependent, and ONLY occurs when the clutch pedal is NOT depressed. It can be heard whether the car is idling in neutral, or accelerating. When I depress the clutch pedal, the ratcheting noise goes away. Ratcheting is the best way I can describe it. If you take a ratchet and spin it and listen to the clicking it makes, thats exactly what it sounds like. Other than the noise there are NO other symptoms. If I was deaf, I would never know there was anything wrong. This is the same noise which I posted about a week ago, but yesterday it was much louder. No changes have been made to the car in this time. My clutch seems to be fine in the traditional sense, I never have experienced any slippage and can bark 2nd gear hard as ever, and even third with my stock tires on. The clutch seems strong, its just a strange noise as described above. Any thoughts?

I suspect a bearing.

Your throw-out bearing may be failing... The bearings can fail at anytime.. Crapy part is you have to go in to get it.
Also (very rare) something happened to finger and one is bent.. It might be hitting either the bearing..
Funny noises from things that turn are never good and should be checked.

Re: I suspect a bearing.

I agree, it could be the throwout bearing or the transmission bearings, I just had mine checked for the exact same thing and it turned out to be the tranny bearings instead of the throwout...which sucks, and that is an expensive repair.

A bad clutch release bearing (a/k/a throwout bearing) will emit a shrill sound when your foot is on the clutch, including when the clutch pedal is "floored". It will be heard even when the vehicle is not moving.

You may have bad bearings inside the transaxle. Go go http://www.motorvate.ca/ and click on 5-Speed Rebuild to see how tranny bearings are replaced.
