how do u check by looking at tghe VIN if cali or fed?

I remember it was easy enough to just to tell by looking at the VIN of your car to see if it was a cali or fed spec. Does anyone know? I just wanted to double check before I thought about buying a y-pipe. Most likely my car is cali since its a SE-limited, but just wanted to double check.

Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The 12th character is the destination:

N = Canada
V = California
U = US, not California
