so my check engine light came on in my 99 max....

so my check engine light came on in my 99 max....

and i went to the sticky on how to diagnosis it (SP) and my ECU looks diff from the one in the example..the one in the example says somethin about changing idle setting...it doesnt say diagnosis check or whatever and the little screw to turn looks different than the one in the example

so whats the deal?

and also when it came on it started like stuttering in 2nd and 3rd gear real bad around 3-4000 rpms on acceleration

The ecu design changed for the 99 model year and thus the procedure to check the codes manually also changed. if u r in the US i suggest going to autozone to get ur codes scanned, i think they do it for free

if not then go to the dealer and pay money to get it scanned or buy your own obd2 scanner.

i do not know the procedure for manually checking the codes on your 99

but yea im in the US so hopefully they will be able to help me out at autozone

Procedure for the '99s is the same as the rest of the 4th gens, just the screw is a small phillips head, not a flat head.

ok i guess i was wrong, just download the FSM for you year it shuold have the definitive answers you are looking for
