simple question that i know has been discussed, but not all my direct questions have been answered, i need to know the exact type of paint, one that wont fade, and when u masked it off did u just tape, or newspaper or what, i know how to take it off so i dont have to worry about getting it all over everything, also does pepboys or autozone have this paint, thanks

Use masking tape and tape off what you dont want painted. Use some rubbing alchohol (No you can use beer) to wipe off your masking area. I would use some fine grit sandpaper and sand down the areas you want painted. I would use some high temp paint. You can use normal paint but not sugguested. Be sure to do it in coats and not in 1 shot.

where did u get your paint? any specific brand you could recommend?

This is getting nitpicking, but it's not really the valve cover. It's the ornamental cover on top of the engine. The real "valve cover" is the portion under that.

As for paint, look for something that says "hi-temp" on it. I think most auto stores will be able to recommend a paint for detailing the engine bay with.

i got mine paint at pepboys... its just "high-temp" paint that is used on engines and stuff..

ok well i went off and i got it painted today, only took a few hours including drying, well i put it back in and ughh the actual valve cover, the metal, looks really bad, so i am going to paint this as well, the thing is i need to know how to take the metal off, im hoping its just a few screws, but i may have to watch for other things when taking it off, please help me out with this if you know how to do it
