Power Steering Fluid Question
How can you change the fluid and get rid of all the "old" fluid?? I want to replace mine and put all synthetic fluid in its place, and make sure all the old stuff is gone.
The power steering reservoir has 3 hoses coming out of it (or is it 4, and I can't see that last one??)
Anyhow, 2 hoses are right next to each other and they circulate fluid to the front of the car, presumably to help keep the fluid cool. The other hose goes down into the rack and pinion gearing.
So, how does I get all the old fluid out?? WHich hose or hoses do I disconnect to prmote the flow??

Theoretically, a machine like T-tech would work for flushing the PS fluid, since it connects to input and output cooler lines and operates by using the pressure of the PS pump itself.
I suppose you can do it the poor man's way and try removing half of the fluid from the reservoir with a turkey baster and fill up with synthetic, drive the car around (to circulate the fluid), "suck and refill" again, and repeat several times. Eventually most of the fluid will be the new fluid.

Power Steering Fluid
Thx Eric L. I'll look for shop that has the T-tech machine, or tukey baster here I come!
Maxima48177, it's prbably fine to use Nissan fluid. But changing up to sytnhetic is bound to perform better. It'll do everything the regular fluid will do, but do it better, and last longer. My engine has synthetic oil, my tranny has synthetic oil. It's all worked out great!
