well, never in all the time I have been reading this forum have I seen anyone post about getting an oil pressure warning light. I know what it mean obviously, that the oil pressure is low, but my 97 auto just blinks it once or twice upon start up. It still bugs me though because I'm sure the oil pressure is low to start with when starting up the car, and it is getting low enough to make the light come on. It there a possible bad oil pressure gague, or could it be my oil pump slowly going? I entertained the idea of maybe a bad oil drain-back valve or clogged filter, but I have changed the oil filter and the problem persists. Anyone had this before? or is there anything else I could add to help determine the problem?
(The oil IS at the proper level, I'm not that dumb)

I also have a '97 SE. My engine oil pressure warning light also flickers momentarily upon startup. I have always regarded this as a normal part of startup. I don't think it is diagnostic of any problem. Page 1-6 of my Owner's Manual states, "The oil pressure warning light is not designed to indicate a low oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level." The manual also states, "If the light flickers or comes on during normal driving, pull off the road in a safe area..."
If you're seeing this light only during startup and not during normal driving, I wouldn't worry about it.
