Glazed Rotor
For the past three weeks, I have been hearing excessive squealing coming from the right side of the car. After inspecting all pads and rotors, I noticed that the right rear rotor is slightly glazed, no doubt helping to produce the squeal. Is there any other rememdy besides turning the rotor that will eliminate this problem?
Thank you for your time.

I've heard that going hard on the brakes may help to get rid of a mild glaze on either the pads or rotors. But a heavy baked on glaze can only be removed by replacing the pads or turning the rotor. You might also try using some sandpaper and deglazing the rotors that way....a gentle circular swirling motion should get rid of the glaze without scoring the rotors.

While you are at it, use a piece of coarse emery cloth to break the glaze on the rotor surfaces. No need to remove the rotor to do this. Please refer to the Haynes repair manual, page 9-10.
