Have you done anything with your brakes and/or y pipe? Since my braking has always sucked(97 SE),I'm going to pick up Brembos and Metal Max Pads and steel lines.
Sounds like a lot of guys have replaced the y pipe and let the main cat on. I was thinking about replacing the cat and leaving the y stock, knowing I can replace the cat anytime. And possibly getting a b pipe and letting the muffler stock (to cut down on noise) since no ponies are gained.
Thoughts/sggestions?
Thanks

Replacing the pads is a great idea along with the lines but the rotors are not needed unless they are warped. As for a replacement cat, bad idea. Spend your money on a Y-pipe or B-pipe replacement. The cat will give you no power gain unless you are supercharged. Running the stock muffler is the only way to keep the car quiet. Check out this site to see more about exhaust systems and what's best for the Maxima.

I concur with Jeff K that you don't need new rotors unless your old ones are badly warped. I just had new Brembo blanks installed with Porterfields and while the new brakes are strong, the combination of new pads on new rotors means I have to step down really hard to stop the car. I hear this is not a problem when bedding pads in on old rotors.

Save the rotor money for a rainy day.
