hey guys, I know this has been talked about before, I was thinking if I put a 97-99 taillights on the 95 max, would that work?

now I know that 97 does not have the wave, I don't care about that, I'm talking about the actual fit, will it fit in the 95 taillight assembly

and if anyone has done this, please send pics

and I also know that the line (the clear/red line) is not going to match, I don't think

let me know

I have never heard of anyone ever doing this, it might be possible, but it might not. If you look at a 97-99 and a 95-96 Maxima parked right next to each other, then you can see that the tail lights kind of look a different size, but I do not know this for sure. The 95-96 lights look a little taller and not as wide as the 97-99, again, I do not know this for sure. If I were you, would just get the red/clear lights made for a 95-96, or altezzas which I personally don't like. Sorry if I wasn't any help.

hmm
I don't think they will fit well... I'm not sure, but I believe the trunk curves a bit more all around on the 95-96s, while the 97-99 is more of a straight angle... Can't really explain it..
The lights are also upside down... reverse lights and turn signals are on the bottom on the 97-99s....

RE: Taillight Conversion...

You can do it but there is a lot of work envolved. You would have to remold parts of the trunk as well as repainting the rear quarter panels and trunk. Lots of work. Just trying to help.

Yea bro just buy the 2 outer peices and they will fit your max perfectly. Buy some special red paint and paint it half red to match up. Fairly expensive (in my book), but worth it.

First of all the outer lights will fit but the ones on the trunk lid wont. Because the lights on the 97's trunk is a little longer. Here is how you convert from a 95 to a 97 rear you will need to by a trunk lid and change your bumper cover to a 97's because the 97's lid cannot work with 95 bumper cover hope this helps.

so, if the 97's outter lights fit, then I'm thinking I'll try to do that, maybe it will come out good and everyone will want to copy me or maybe not, we'll see

dude,

why spend all that money to convert when the 95/96 have better looking tails anyways - that is, if you get the 1/2clear 1/2red ones... I honestly think we have the better looking tails, and so do most..

but if your hearts desire is 97+ tails, GO FOR IT! I'm behind ya!

I agree with you, but the outter clears for our car is sooo expensive, that it might be just easier to get the 97's outter tail at a junk yard or something like that
