I have a 95 GXE. Whenever I turn on my AC, a slight hissing noise (like air escaping from a balloon) is heard coming from the vents near the windshield. I started noticing this on Friday, two days after I got it back from the dealer who replaced my ignition switch and resurfaced my rotors.

Today, I drove back and forth running errands and I had turned my AC on. It would never get cold, even with the AC turned all the way up. It wasn't even cool... just lukewarm. Everytime I stopped, I checked the AC line (right term?) and there was no condensation. And when I parked, there was no waterspot underneath the car to indicate that the AC was turned on.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

can you hear the click from your compressor kicking in when you press the AC button?

See yoor Tachometer too. The RPMs should go up when you turn on your AC. It is noticable when you are stopped. If the RPMs do go up then your compressor is working and you lost the AC gas and probably have a leak that's why you lost the gas.

Yep. According to the responses that I got in the General Forum, I've come to the conclusion that it's most likely that I'm low on freon.
