the one that im lookin at is in pretty good shape on the outside, but it was hit in the rear, but thats all fixed, and the tranny was rebuilt because of some gasket was worn and wasnt replaced in time so they rebuilt it.. annd, he got a tranny cooler put in when that happened.. it also has about 130,000 miles on it. does the tranny cooler make the shifts any harder? it seems like from 1-2 it shifts hard, but not like somethings broke shift, its a good solid shift, just seems a little hard compared to my 98.. im pretty sure it is a gxe, plus he bought a spolier but it wasnt painted right so its there ready to be installed. the engine sounds good idiling and revving... it kinda feels like my friends 90 honduh accord.. in the way the suspension and everything feels... alot stiffer than in my 98. was there any differenciating factors in the two, 95 and 98? the engine also sounds a little different.. more like an engine compared to the 98 which sounds like a fan running or something.. so, u think i should buy? well, thanks ahead of time.. and any info you can give on this will help.

oh, well, i dont think he had any new ones, he prolly woulda said, i dunno though ill ask, he also has to get the thing realigned they messed that up when takin out the tranny, if u make a left turn at above 20 or so the tire squelches.. but ill ask.. u sure the 98's dont have a softer suspension, maybe it was just me.. ?

Maybe I missed something here? Whats the matter with your 98 max?
My 95 max also got rear ended about a year ago and I had nissan fix it and it came out better then before the accident. Just make sure the allighnement is redone before you buy the car, that way you will know there is no frame damage.
The factory suspension is the same between the years. If it was was a SE then maybe that whould explain it? Did it have white face gauges?

Main difference between 95 and 98 is slightly different interior dash trim and improved crash safety for 97+ Maximas compared wiht 95-96. As for the transmission, no the tranny cooler should not affect shift feel. I would definitely get it checked out from bumper to bumper by a mechanic before considering purchasing it. A complete checkup should be around $100.
