I was driving down the turnpike this weekend and I am starting to notice little rattles here and there. Well the most noticable ones are the ones from the dash, if I am going over unpave roads but then there is this tiny rattling noise in the passenger side door. I am just wondering, with just 30K on the car, am I the only one who has noticed these annoying noises here and there...just curious if I might have gotten one made on a monday morning or friday afternoon.

my 95 started out as a little rattle on the passenger front end. after bringing it to the dealer numerous time they finally found out that the strut assembly insulater was all gone. therefore the assembly was not in there firm enough so every time i went over a bump it rattled like hell. getting worse every day. of course i have almost 100k miles and go over bumps like it was nothing.

I fixed some of my rattles

the front pillars next to the windsheild...stuck a piece of material...the one you put on a furniture leg so it does not mark the carpet too much...
fels?...I don't remember the name...It works..no more rattle.

rattle

I have same problems with my 97 maxima... Boston roads are far from perfect condition. Just recently I started hearing a sound of a shaking glass...seems like my windshield is shaking or something. It's getting really annoying, but i dunno if there is anything I can do to fix it. Any suggestions?

Door Rattles?

Check the side light in the door, that can do it sometimes.. It's not a big rattle, but I run a lot of power in my sound system so it can get pretty noticeable if it's bouncing around enough hehe. Only other thing I can suggest would be to take the door panel off and look for loose bits & pieces.

I've got rattles in my front pillars too, I can't stand it, sometimes I just fold up some paper and stick it between the pillars and the windshield...it's not pretty, but it get's the job done

overall qaulity

I noticed that ppl have said that Nissan's overall quality control isn't that good--in terms of how they have assembled a vehicle together it is a bit lacking. I have driven Toyotas, an Acura and now this Maxima...and I noticed that the other two have better quality...

It seems quite typical for the Nissan cars to have minor aches here or there...what is up with that? any one have any clue? I thought they were supposed to make things better!!

There is one solution! THere is a little box located in the center of your console with the Bose written. Below that you will see a ****. Turn it to the left till your rattles are gone. Works for me.

Well most of the time when I get rtattles that are noticeable it is either something on me or something I have brought into the car, not the car itself. Otherwise it is something like a seatbelt twisting or creaking or the A pillar flexing against the dash, solved with some black weatherstripping. Anyhow the Camry I've been in and my sister's Acura all have minor squeaks or rattles, I can't say I've never been in a car where some can't be heard if you are listening for them.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

I think he is saying that you ought to turn up the volume to the radio to drown out the rattling noise...cover it up--he is right, it does wonders sometimes.

My car has got a couple rattles when I go over some big bumps, but what do you expect out of a 4 year-old car with a lowered suspension and riding on 17s? My A-pillars sometimes creak and sometimes the sunroof. I can't hear any of it unless I'm listening for it. I think the quality of the Maxima is quite good and I don't think a lot of you realize how good you've got it. I've been in lots of Hondas and Acuras that rattle horribly. My 90 CRX Si had lots of rattles after 1 year and same goes for my old Accord. Don't even get me started on my 94 Z28. The interor panels were actually stuck together using a form of velcro!! My dad's 96 Tahoe rattles horribly. Even my buddies 95 Supra TT has lots of hatch rattles. Don't worry about it.

better engineering

don't worry about it, Andy--

Well, one thing is for sure, if Nissan concentrated more of their attention on the overall quality of the car and spread that around --make sure pieces came together with higher tolerances, maybe we wouldn't need to find ridiculous ways to cover up things like this.
