I was showing my car to my Grandpa, and telling him all the good stuff about the bulletproof engine. He said that it isn't the engine that would break down first, it is the transaxles. What exactly are those (I have an idea but don't know exactly), has anyone had trouble with them, and is there anything I should do to maintain them? If no one's had trouble, what is generally the limiting factor in the life of a Maxima? Anyone had one that long? lol. Thanks a lot.

A transaxle is just another name for a transmission. It's true then tranny's usual go before engines. And BTW you get only one per car.

On a different note, I have been beating the living crap out of my 95 max on a daily bases for some time now, it has 97K miles on it so far and the only real thing that has broken was my clutch{driver induced}. I actually like it when things break becuase I get to fix it and use better parts .
