Since our shifters sit soo high, could you simply just take the **** and cut it down lower, and then retap or whatever the top so it had threads again... ?

Also, how much is stillen short throw shifter ? I saw his site said 270$, but that is stillens site... where else can I get it and how much. Is it worth it or should I just cut mine down ?

hey man

I cut 1 1/2" off the top of mine. Didn't bother to rethread since I have an aftermarket **** (it doesn't use the threads anyway). Just unscrew the stock ****, poke the lever thru a plastic bag (like from the grocery store) to catch the shavings, use a hacksaw to chop that sucker down, then put your new **** on (every one I've ever seen uses little sideways hex screws to tighten it down to the lever). It took me about 30 minutes to cut thru mine. Good luck!

You can cut it...

I did, but then I went out and bought the SMC adjustable short throw shifter. Cut works well and looks good, the SMC adjustable is really sweet, takes some getting used to but definitely a nice piece. I even cut my SMC...REAL short...ask ScreaminFast and MardiGrasMax...

CustomMaxima is having a GD on the SMC adjustables for 120 or so... check him out. I would rather the SMC anyday over the Stillen unit just cause of the adjustability

Re: You can cut it...

Del,
Is cutting the stock 1.5" worth the effort? I imagine it would cut down your throw by a small amt since the length is reduced.

It's just that an STS is such a pain to install and the bolts on my 95 are quite rusted... It's basically NOT an option unless I decide to have it professionally installed. Anyways, since you've done both, was wondering if you thought cutting is worthwhile or whether STS is just that much better that it be better go that route or nothing.

cutting it...

first of all 120$ is waaay cheaper then I thought... so thats an option, but honestly the throw really isnt that far to me... I can live with it for that price, its just that this thing sticks up like FOREVER in my car... well, the normal amount but it feels like a lot.. I just want it to be lower.. looks like I'm cutting mine!
