Tinting

I live in GA, where the legal tinting is 35%, and I am looking into tinting my car (by a car shop). However, I do not know which kind of tint to get and how dark. Do I get a regular black tint that may fade into purple or do I get a metallic tint that you can probably use as a mirror, or is there one in between these two. And is there a "brand" of tint that is good. Thanks.

kinda depends...
I got 35% smoke reflective tint on my sherwood green max. However, I think a good, basic black would be best if your car is black, white, or gold. I really think the reflective tint looks good on "colored" cars... red, green, blue, brown, etc...
And as for brand, 3M is the only brand worth getting, it's guaranteed not to turn purple for the lifetime of the tint, no matter what color you get.

Get higher
I live in Illinois and law here is 0% on driver and pass. side and i think you can have 5 or 6 inches down on the front windshield and anything on the rest of the windows. I noticed what looks best is a number thats the same all the way around the car, for instance my friend got limos in the back and 50% on the front, and it just looks kinda off, but if you do limos over the front that will definatly get you pulled over, but that looks the best. I bought my car with 30% all the way around, and it looks good being all one shade, but I don't want anyone to see in through the back so I dunno what I'm gonna do. For you I'd suggest getting 50% all the way around, first off it's not like a cop is going to notice a 15% difference plus your driving a family sedan, and just as long as your not a 16 yr. old cocky guy, you'll be fine. As for where you should get them put on at that is important, a friend of mine had his window break a minute after he got in the car and they were like what'd you do, because they had reinstalled the window wrong and he was s.o.l.. I would just ask around to people who have tints where they got theirs for your local area.

A little more info...
Because I think some of us might be a little confused. First: The numbers associated with tint have to do with the percentage of light allowed to pass through the tint. This means 50% is an *extremely* light tint. Ramius said 35% is the legal limit in GA, so definitely go with that dude!
Second: Nforg has a good point about where to get the tint installed. You should be looking for a place that specializes in tinting. Please avoid those little shops that "do it all". You know those little shops that do "extreme" car stereo, alarms, and tint? When you do finally choose a shop that specializes in tinting, take a look at the tinted cars in their parking lot. Look for a seam on the back window, because if they don't know how to do the back window in one piece, you're not interested... find somewhere else. Also look for any place on the windows where the tint doesn't meet the trim, gaps. Now, nforg mentioned that a friend of his went somewhere that *reinstalled* the window wrong?!?!?! I gotta say I've watched 3 cars get tinted (an escort, an RX-7, and my Max), and I have *never* seen anyone remove a window from the car. If you guys are going somewhere that has to take the windows off to get the tint on, *DON'T GO THERE*!!
Hope that helps
