Well, my dad took a closer look at the new rear shocks the dealership installed last week before they sold me my maxi. (The ones that ended up defective, either by way of bad/wrong shock, or improper installation). He said he saw the shocks leaking a good deal, and that things definitely didn't look right back there.

My question is...I'm supposed to take it up to the dealership tomorrow to get it worked out....should I make a request that they give me brand new shocks? If these ones are already leaking, and they try to simply reinstall them correctly, what would be the negative consequences? Or should it be obvious to them that they need to restart with another new set of shocks and do it right this time?

It's so frustrating to buy a new car and not be able to drive it. Not to mention horribly inconvienent (they gaveth me no loaner).

Certainly you should ask for new shocks. Whether you will get them depends on your negotiating ability and the warranty (if any) which came with this used car purchase.
