I'm new to modding my maxima, I've got a 98 auto. I'm thinking about ordering the Stillen Intake but my mechanic said it wouldn't help with anything at all and that I shouldn't get it...What exactly does the Stillen Intake do and how does it affect the engine? Will it ruin anything over time?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

I just need a legitimate reason to install it...

If your not all up into the tuning/modding thing, i wouldn't get it. First, the stillen intake is a little pricey. Second, you lose a little of your low end torque, especially on the auto. But it will improve your high end and in my opinion you can feel the difference. If you need a legit 'reason,' gas mileage. I get consistantly 22 miles to the gallon in city driving.

i'm thinking about doing some light mods because i'm 18 and the car is still in my dads name (he pays for repairs and upkeep) and his mechanic told me it was a waste of money and **** like that. I want to do some performance mods but nothing big, I'm thinking about a basic intake system, FSTB, RSB, and some cosmetic mods that I already have done. I'm not sure what exactly to do to the car to make it a little bit quicker but not spend a LOT of money.

I'm just wondering what you guys would do with a 98 auto if you were on a budget and didn't have a LOT of technical knowledge (but can read instructions).

thanks again

A list of mods for the Maxima by MedicSonic:
1.)Clear corners. Once you get them, orange is just ugly.
2.)Front Strut Tower Brace. I don't have one, but I hear it REALLY improves the steering feedback.
3.)Popcharger/CAI. The popcharger will let you sound nice, but the CAI will actually give you some power.
4.)VB mod for automatics. Makes the tranny 'feel' cool, and supposedly it improves your 1/4 miles times a bit too.
5.)Red/clear taillights. Same as the clear corners above.
6.)Tints. Make you look 'cool'.
7.)Rims. No explaination necessary.
8.)Suspension drop. No more 4X4.
9.)Stillen body kit. Yeah, they rip you off, but they make some cool looking stuff.
10.)MAXIMA.ORG stickers, available at www.maxima.org/merchandise . The only way we can recognize one another on the road.

I've got the clear corners and the tint, I'm seriously thinking about the Pop Charger, suspension is too expensive for me, but getting my hands on some nice 17's or even the stock 2001 tires would be nice.

The stickers are a must, but I'm looking for a banner to go across my windshield to match my tint (30% all around).
Wanted a Maxima.org banner.
