Clutch 'hangs' (help)??
Sometimes, when I take off rather quickly (when my wheels should probably spin out) it seems that my clutch 'hangs'. The engine will be revving, there will be a funny groaning noise, but the car won't be moving very much.... What does this mean?

Is your foot completely off the clutch pedal when "The engine will be revving, there will be a funny groaning noise, but the car won't be moving very much...."? If so, your clutch is slipping. This is a sign of wear or a mechanical defect. Start saving your pennies.

Yes, this happens when my foot is completely off the clutch pedal. I have tried all the litte 'tests' for slipping clutch before, and none of those have suggested slippage. But this definitely seems like slippage to me. How much does it cost for a new clutch?

Independent shops in my area advertise clutch replacements for US$300. This price gets you a Brand X clutch. Beware!
Chris Frenze reported good results with a Sachs replacement clutch. See http://216.122.219.59/forums/showthr...threadid=48354
